Dear Members,
A quick update on the Digital Beef system. As stated last month, we have officially moved all information from ABRI to Digital Beef. The office staff has been registering all animals in Digital Beef over the last several weeks. Due to this, the online “Herdbook” is not current nor in use at this time. Therefore, to avoid confusion as to why the Herdbook is not updated with new registrations, we have removed the “Herdbook” from the website. In its place you will find the link to Digital Beef. All of the information that was available with the ABRI Herdbook can now be found in Digital Beef. Please use the previously given log in information and view your herd. We have added some “how too” tutorials to the AWA website to help with basic functions and will be adding more in the near future.
As stated in the phase one announcement, the registration process and the genetic testing order process will remain the same as before for the near future. This will give time for both the members and the staff to build a comfort level in operating within Digital Beef. Currently, the staff is populating/creating calves in your herd when you submit for registration. This is one reason why some extra time has been needed to get some animals registered. We are “clearing the road” of speed bumps within the process so that when we move to full function/use by the members the process will go more smoothly. Our goal is give full function to the members, registrations and test orders etc, on January 1, 2018.
As with any large transfer of data or switching of operating systems, there are bugs that need to be worked out. Some of the bugs were found prior to launch, but some were unable to be seen until fully functional. We are trying to work those bugs out as quickly as possible. We are working daily with both Digital Beef and GeneSeek to correct any problems or issues within the system to ensure that all information is correct.
Thank you for your patience.
